I created this piece for a show at Valley Gallery in Walnut Creek, CA. The show is titled "Around and About Diablo," and it features artwork inspired by Mount Diablo. When I learned of this show, I drove down Walnut Creek to scope out ideas for a possible painting. I had a hard time finding a good view of Mount Diablo, but as I was searching, I noticed a beautful white horse. When I saw the way the morning sun was hitting this horse, I knew I had my subject. I decided to place the horses and barn low on the canvas so as to emphasize the giant hill that loomed behind. This show was judged by award-winning artist, Tim Horn, and he awarded this painting first place. I created this piece for a show at Valley Gallery in Walnut Creek, CA.
